New "527" for Kerry: The Associated Press
WASHINGTON - Months after insisting it could find no more records of President Bush (news - web sites)'s Air National Guard service, the Defense Department has released more than two dozen pages of files, including Bush's report card for flight training and dates of his flights.
The records, released under pressure of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by The Associated Press, show Bush ranked in the middle of his 1969 flight training class and flew 336 hours for the Texas Air National Guard, mostly in the F-102A fighter.

Let's say you fancy yourself a respected news agency.
Then, suppose, you have two candidates running for the U.S. Presidency. One admits to a dicey young adulthood but has since, with the help of a good woman (though of modest means), gotten his act together to ascend to the top. As Commander in Chief he has successfully prosecuted two wars and continues to wage the Terror War on the home turf of the Jihadist Vermin.
The other candidate served in a conflict 35 plus years ago, returning home, medals in hand (medals he might, might not, or might have hurled over the White House fence), to calumny his former comrades and generally provide aid and comfort to the opposition. Owing to an unremarkable next 30 years, this candidate has made his service in a war he once harshly opposed the main focal point of his campaign.
Now, suppose the first candidate had entered the National Guard way back when, perhaps as a way to avoid combat. You suspect that all the records concerning his service have not been released, though the issue has been vetted for over four years and is irrelevant to all but the harshest partisans
Assume, again, that the country had recently elected a true draft dodger, all but eliminating the question of who served where and when as an issue in future campaigns.
This gets better ...
Pretend 250 men who served with the second candidate form a group that questions the incidents that led to his fabled medals and that the documents that would clear much of this up are being jealously guarded by the candidate.
Now ... which set of records to you go to court to obtain?
We couldn't make this stuff up, folks!
